Gil Vicente FC Toronto is a youth soccer academy based in Toronto since 2017, Ontario and a certified Canadian affiliate with GIL VICENTE FUTEBOL CLUBE in Portugal.  It is a soccer club that trains players of various ethnicities from around the world. Our focus at Gil Vicente FC is to develop players by teaching lifelong lessons through soccer; to become a great player one must also grow as a person.  Gil Vicente also reinforces the idea to our players that even though soccer is the world’s best game, education is key to success.

 

Gil Vicente F.C. is a standard catering club between the ages of 4 to 18 years old and proudly representing North York and GTA.   It was founded with the purpose of serving its local community by providing the opportunity for all youth and senior players to engage in soccer to their full potential. Our objectives are to partner with local companies, as well as individuals, who share the love of the game of soccer and the passion to train players within North York and GTA .

 

Over the years the club has worked hard in developing a professional approach to the game of soccer by acquiring expert personnel responsible for the technical training of our athletes.

The club has followed all the guidelines of soccer. It strives to instill the value of professionalism and work ethics in our athletes, because this skill will bring success in life, both on and off the pitch.  We are a player oriented club that measures success not only by the number of titles we win, but more importantly, by the number of players we can help move to higher levels of competition.

 

The club takes pride in all current and former players who have taken their experience with the club to Varsity Soccer opportunities at Universities and Colleges in Ontario, Canada.  To accomplish these goals, we immerse our players in a serious soccer environment, surrounded by outstanding technical leaders.  Our Technical Department is led by Aurelio Mota who has over 20 years of experience at the elite level of the sport, having played Semi-Professional in Portugal. In addition to his role with our club, he is also the head coach for the three Boys teams.

 

Our business operations are led by Club President, Jose Carlos Da Silva and the Director of Business Operations, Aurelio Mota.  Both are involved in the sport of soccer at various levels and bring a wealth of administrative and management experience to the table. In 2019, Gil Vicente F.C. operated 1 Men’s team, 10 youth teams and a soccer school development program. In addition to the program, the club serves as a very important pathway to Gil Vicente F.C. team in Portugal for the area’s best young players. Once a year, Gil Vicente FC Toronto select players are sent to try out to Gil Vicente FC Portugal, that has been around since 1924 and is currently in first division.  Within two years of inception, our Portuguese affiliate selected one of our players, Raffa, who has been in Portugal for the past few years playing for the junior team.  Every year we send approximately 12 to 16 players for tryouts and provide them with the opportunity to play professionally.

 

Gil Vicente F.C. is a not-for-profit organization that depends a great deal on athletes’ registration fees, sponsorship from local business and fundraising. 

 

It takes a great deal of financial resources to cover the operating costs of employing professional coaches, league and tournament fees, field rentals, uniform costs, insurance, travel etc.
